A structured pathway focusing on key leadership competencies: strategic thinking, communication, decision-making, team building, and emotional intelligence. Each module equips you with actionable tools.
You will be paired with an experienced mentor who will guide you through real-world challenges. Regular check-ins and accountability partners keep you on track.
Each competence area includes hands-on assignments, case studies, and projects that directly apply to your leadership context. Learn by doing.
The Competence Facilitator Teaching Guide is drawn from the Apostle Irene Board Room, a proven resource designed to help you identify, equip, and release leaders who lead with both skill and spiritual grounding. This guide provides discussion frameworks, practical exercises, and biblical foundations for building a leadership pipeline that lasts. Whether you are a pastor, ministry director, or volunteer coordinator, you will find tools you can use immediately.
Facilitation is not merely about conveying information. It is about creating an environment where the Holy Spirit can shape character, sharpen competence, and ignite calling. Every session you lead is an opportunity to cultivate leaders who will influence generations.
A competent facilitator is a steward of God's people. You are not the source of the growth but a conduit for the Spirit's work. Your role is to prepare the soil, plant the seed, and nurture the sapling, trusting God for the harvest.
Key principles for every facilitator:
"The goal of facilitation is not to fill a notebook but to transform a life." — Apostle Irene Board Room
Take 15 minutes to reflect on the following questions. Write your answers in a journal or share them with a trusted peer.
Every church is filled with untapped leadership potential. The competent facilitator learns to see beyond present performance and recognize the raw materials God has placed in people. Look for character, teachability, and a heart for others.
Characteristics of emerging leaders:
List three people in your sphere of influence who demonstrate these characteristics. For each person, identify one way you can invest in their development this month. Write a specific action step for each.
A leadership pipeline is a intentional system for moving people from discovery to deployment. Without a pipeline, the work of the ministry stalls. With one, the Kingdom advances exponentially.
The four stages of a healthy pipeline:
"The measure of a leader is not how many followers they have, but how many leaders they raise." — Apostle Irene Board Room
Draw a simple pipeline with four stages. For each stage, write down the specific systems, resources, and people you currently have in place. Identify the gaps. What is one step you can take this week to strengthen the weakest stage in your pipeline?
The Competence Facilitator Teaching Guide is a living resource. Return to these sessions often, adapt them to your context, and share them with other facilitators. The goal is not perfection but progress. Every leader you develop will in turn develop others, creating a legacy of competent, Spirit-led leadership that extends far beyond your own reach.
You are not alone in this work. The Higherway Leadership Institute exists to support you with resources, coaching, and a community of like-hearted leaders. Stay connected, keep learning, and continue raising leaders for global impact.
