1. INTRODUCTION

Higherway Leadership Institute, Centre for Leadership Development, respects the privacy of users of the Higherway Leadership Institute Android application, website and related digital services.

This Privacy Policy explains the information we may collect, how we use and protect that information, the service providers that may process it, how long information may be retained, and how users may request access, correction or deletion of their personal information.

This policy applies to the Higherway Leadership Institute Android application and related digital services operated by Higherway Leadership Institute.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A. ACCOUNT AND PROFILE INFORMATION

When users create or use an account, we may collect:

• Full name
• Email address
• Telephone number, where voluntarily provided
• Organisation name, occupation or leadership role, where voluntarily provided
• Account preferences and profile information

User authentication is processed through Google Firebase Authentication.

Higherway Leadership Institute does not receive or store users’ passwords in readable form.

B. PROGRAMME AND APPLICATION ACTIVITY

We may collect information relating to a user’s activity within the application, including:

• Course registrations and enrolments
• Programme and event registrations
• Course access and learning progress
• Access to free or paid application content
• Leadership Boardroom applications or requests
• Support requests and messages
• Questions, enquiries, feedback and survey responses
• Administrative responses sent through the application

C. PURCHASE INFORMATION

Where users purchase digital products, courses or services through Google Play, we may receive limited purchase information, including:

• The product purchased
• Purchase or subscription status
• Transaction or purchase token
• Date of purchase
• Access or entitlement status

Payment-card details, bank account details and other payment credentials are processed by Google Play or the applicable payment provider.

Higherway Leadership Institute does not directly receive or store users’ complete payment-card information.

D. TECHNICAL AND SECURITY INFORMATION

Our technology providers may process limited technical information required to operate, secure and protect the application, including:

• Device and application information
• Application version
• Network or connection information
• Authentication tokens
• Application-security and integrity tokens
• Information used to detect unauthorised access, fraud, misuse or abuse

The application may also use local device storage to remember login status, application preferences and authorised access to application features.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We may use users’ information to:

• Authenticate users
• Protect accounts and application access
• Deliver courses, programmes, books, events and leadership resources
• Record registrations and learning progress
• Provide access to free and paid content

Higherway Leadership Institute does not sell users’ personal information.

We do not rent personal information to advertisers, data brokers or unrelated third parties.

The application does not use users’ personal information for third-party behavioural advertising.

4. SERVICE PROVIDERS

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate certain parts of the application.

These providers may include:

A. GOOGLE FIREBASE

Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Firebase App Check, may process account, application, database and security information needed to authenticate users, store application records and protect the application from fraud, abuse and unauthorised access.

B. GOOGLE PLAY

Google Play may process application distribution, downloads, purchases, subscriptions, licensing and payment-related information according to Google’s own terms and privacy practices.

C. WEBSITE, EMAIL AND COMMUNICATION PROVIDERS

Service providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services, comply with applicable legal obligations, protect users and systems, or carry out legitimate instructions from Higherway Leadership Institute.

5. INFORMATION SHARING

We may disclose relevant information:

• To service providers that help operate, maintain and secure the application
• To process or verify purchases and user entitlements
• When required by applicable law, court order or lawful government request
• To investigate suspected fraud, misuse, abuse or security incidents
• To protect the rights, property and safety of users, Higherway Leadership Institute or the public
• During a legitimate organisational restructuring, merger or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards

Higherway Leadership Institute does not sell or rent users’ personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

6. DATA SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information.

Account information may be retained while a user’s account remains active or while the information is reasonably required to provide requested services.

Course registrations, programme records, support requests and related administrative records may be retained while they remain necessary for operational, educational, security or administrative purposes.

Purchase and transaction records may be retained where reasonably necessary for:

• Accounting
• Purchase verification
• Fraud prevention
• Security
• Dispute resolution
• Legal or regulatory compliance

When personal information is no longer reasonably required, it will be deleted, anonymised or securely restricted.

8. ACCOUNT AND DATA DELETION

Users may request deletion of their Higherway Leadership Institute application account and associated personal information.

The request should normally be sent from the email address connected to the application account so that account ownership can be verified.

After the request has been verified, Higherway Leadership Institute will delete or anonymise the account and associated personal information within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days.

Information scheduled for deletion may include:

• The user’s Firebase Authentication account
• Application profile information
• Course registrations associated with the account
• Learning-progress records associated with the account
• Support requests and messages associated with the account
• Leadership Boardroom requests associated with the account
• Other personal application records directly associated with the user

Certain limited information may be retained where reasonably necessary for:

• Legal or regulatory compliance
• Accounting and transaction records
• Fraud prevention
• Security investigations
• Enforcement of agreements
• Resolution of disputes

Any information retained for these purposes will remain protected and will not be used for unrelated purposes.

Deleting or uninstalling the application from a device does not automatically delete the user’s account or personal information.

9. USER RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Subject to applicable law, users may request:

• Access to their personal information
• Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion of their account and associated information
• Restriction of certain processing
• Withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis of processing

10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Higherway Leadership Institute application is not designed for children under the age of 13.

Where we discover that information from a child under 13 has been collected without appropriate authorisation, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Users who have not reached the age of legal adulthood in their location should use the application with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

The application may contain links to websites, learning resources, payment services, social-media platforms or communication services operated by third parties.

Higherway Leadership Institute is not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of external services.

Higherway Leadership Institute may update this Privacy Policy when the application, our services, technology providers or applicable requirements change.

The revised policy will display an updated “Last Updated” date.
